It’s National Book Lovers Day F&I fam!
As a small team of remote workers, travel is a huge part of our passion & lives. Because our ability to travel has quite obviously been restricted, a great escape for us has been getting lost in the travels of a book!
We've compiled a short but sweet list of must-reads if you want to scratch that travel itch, & maybe even give you some inspo for your next destination!
1. The Alchemist
A classic, short read that is probably one of the most-read books in recent history, this short but sweet book is all about following your dreams & takes you on a journey you’ll want to embark on yourself afterwards!
2. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
This series of science fiction novels by British writer Douglas Adams stars a man, Arthur Dent, who finds out his best mate is actually an alien, and has gotten news that there are other alien forces on their way to destroy earth. Dent & his alien friend escape from the chaos about to ensue on Earth & embark on a journey around, well, the galaxy.
3. The Lost City of Z
This book seeks to find out what happened to Percy Fawcett, who trekked through the Amazon jungle in search of the lost city of Z. With a mix of both history & biography, this book intertwines information about Percy’s life and expeditions with the science behind the myth of Z and the possibility of vast advanced civilizations in the Amazon.
4. The Beach
The book for remote workers if ya ask me! Alex Garland’s tale about backpackers in their search for paradise is one you may resonate with if you are one to try to “do something different and get off the beaten path,” This tale also very cleverly reflects how backpackers’ search for the ideal can end up ruining that ideal.
Though not a book about travel, Matthew McConaughey’s Greenlights is sure to take you on a journey!! From the Amazon to Australia, McConaughey covers ground in all forms in his unconventional memoir. Saddle up for some wild stories, outlaw wisdom, and lessons learned the hard way about living that most definitely will keep you wanting more!
